Poike: the Easter Island peninsula is a huge playground for walkers. Breathtaking landscapes, a mecca of Rapanui cosmology, cliffside caves, petroglyphs, archaeological remains, Moai,… everything is there to make this hike on Easter Island fantastic!
This circuit also includes an option very popular with our visitors: the tour T8 – SUNRISE OVER THE MOAI, Tongariki and its 15 gigantic statues. You have to be up early but the show is definitely worth it!

1 – VAI A HEVA. Witness to another time, on the ascending path of the oldest volcano, the sculpted rock welcomes the visitor. Then, kind to those who discover it, sheltered in a cave, the face of Make Make. Welcome to Hanau Eepe territory.
2 – PU A KATIKI. Easy to access, Poike small Crater offers a breathtaking view of Rapa Nui. From its 370 meters, shades of blue and green, successions of furtive shadows on valleys, slopes and sea from one end of the island to the other.
3 – THE MOAI. Around the ruins of the platform lie the remains of small Moai, carved into the white rock of the place.
4 – PAPA ’UI HETU’U. Descending towards the northern cliffs and facing the immensity of the sea, sky over ocean, the Pleiades on an isolated rock in the middle of the vegetation: a mecca of ancestral Rapanui cosmology.
5 – ANA O KEKE. On the side of these same cliffs, overlooking the waves of the Pacific, the cave where the young girls destined for the cult of Tangata Manu were initiated. Wall petroglyphs.
6 – MOTU TOREMO HIVA. At the end of your hike, guardian of the platform, a Moai head emerging from the ground, today solitary, seems to await the confirmation of new hypotheses…
Departure at 9:00 a.m. from your accommodation.
• A motorized journey of around thirty minutes is necessary to reach the Poike peninsula.
• Then the ascent begins towards the summit.
• Along the way, we will stop in front of an imposing sculpture on the rock, in the shape of a face, Vai A Heva.
• Before going to the summit, we will visit a petroglyph of Make Make hidden in a cave.
• The summit will be an opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire eastern half of Easter Island.
• The descent towards the ruins of a ceremonial platform will allow us to observe curious Moai littered around.
• Nearby, a stone placed in the middle of nowhere, an important component of Rapanui cosmology.
• Direction the coast and its steep cliffs to descend along it and stop in a cave protecting petroglyphs.
• The way back goes through a final platform whose ruins are intriguing.
• Return to the car and return to the village of Hanga Roa.
