1 – TAHAI. Royal residence, one of the first human settlements on the island. Very beautiful restored example of ancestral living space, shaped over the centuries. And very beautiful view of the bay of Hanga Roa.

2 – RANO KAU. One of the most beautiful panoramas of Rapa Nui.

3 – ORONGO. Tangata Manu, the cult of the Bird-Man. The ceremonial village of Orongo is another very important place in the history of the island.

4 – ANAKENA. Cradle of Rapa Nui culture. Splendid white sand beach lined with coconut trees and bathed by the turquoise waters of Hanga Rau Bay, where the Polynesian conquerors landed. 8 Moai still celebrate there, and for a long time to come, the beginnings of this extraordinary megalithic culture.

5 – TE PITO KURA. The largest Moai ever erected on a ceremonial platform, solitary and lying, is accompanied by Pito O Te Henua, a perfectly spherical stone with magnetic anomalies.

6 – PAPA VAKA. The large concentration of petroglyphs (including the longest known to date on the island) is at Papa Vaka.

7 – PU O HIRO. The aerophone stone: present testimony of the past.

8 – RANO RARAKU. The quarry from which almost all Moai come. Sacred site loaded with questions, suppositions but also answers. If we believe the “understood” pruning process, it is indeed the only one. Transport, position, abandonment… or not, the hundreds of Moai still present hypnotize visitors from all over the world.

9 – TONGARIKI. The largest ceremonial complex in Polynesia: 200 m. long and a dozen high with 15 Moai. The architectural genius of the Rapanui in all its splendor. And its contemporary restoration is not to be outdone.

10 – PUNA PAU. The facing career. Beautification of altars and statues. Art and refinement with panoramic views of Hanga Roa Bay.

11 – A KIVI. Seven stone giants face the maritime horizon. Their stellar alignment is surprising.

This great day trip begins with a very short drive (a few minutes) from your accommodation to the most important restored site in Hanga Roa village, the Tahai ceremonial complex. Visit and explanations of the community architectural layout: Ahu (sacred platform), Moai, remains of the ancient village.

Then we will take the Easter Island crossing road to go to the opposite of Rapa Nui, and more precisely to Anakena, the large white sand beach of the island. Theater of the first arrivals, the site is also home to one of the most beautiful platforms, with its topped Moai.

The circuit continues for an hour towards the eastern part of Easter Island with successions of archaeological remains, petroglyphs and enchanting landscapes to arrive at the base of oldest volcano on the island, Poike.

After passing along its base, we will arrive at the largest archaeological site on Easter Island and also in all of Polynesia: Tongariki. 15 Moai face visitors and bear witness to the gigantism of this astonishing megalithic civilization. Impressive !

Then just a few kilometers from Tongariki, Rano Raraku, the volcano which houses the quarry where the stone giants were carved.
