4 sites on the program for this half day.
1 – ANAKENA. Located in the north of the island, it is a very beautiful bay, a paradisiacal place, essential for the history of Easter Island. The first Polynesians landed here, whose descendants would shape the statues known throughout the world today.
2 – TONGARIKI. Testimony of the power of the ancestral clans, an immense platform that supports several stone colossi, the Moai. Amazed by the construction techniques used and seeing them aligned perfectly, they challenge our imagination.
3 – RANO RARAKU. Impossible to miss a visit to the natural monument at the center of the Moai cult: its quarry. Exploded on the slopes of the volcano, hundreds of sculptures remain there frozen forever. Under construction or completed, these volcanic stone giants welcome fascinated visitors.
4 – VAI HU. Reconstruction of an ancestral village with its houses, stone chicken coops and stone gardens.
Depart at 09:30 or 13:30 from your accommodation.
We cross the island lengthwise to find ourselves in Anakena, where legend has it that the Polynesian colonization of Easter Island began. This will be our longest motorized tour, lasting about twenty minutes, to appreciate one of the most famous archaeological sites on the island, completely restored.
We will follow the northern coastal road and then the slopes of the Poike peninsula to reach Hanga Nui Bay, where we can see the largest site in Polynesia, Tongariki, also completely restored ahu.
Then comes the visit to Rano Raraku, in the eastern part of Easter Island, where the Moai were carved, those stone giants that made the island famous throughout the world. Then return to town.
